We are a sociable group and chat as we craft. No experience needed, just a willingness to pool resources, share knowledge and skills and join in the fun of having a go at a different craft each month; some we like, others don't work out and we don't repeat but that's the joy of crafting!

October 2025:
Members kept busy trying needlelace and sashiko (Japanese stitching) in addition to more wreath tying, knitting Christmas hats and making Dorset buttons.

During 2025 craft group members gave their time and creativity making a variety of items to donate to a local care provider for the comfort of its residents. These included personalised cushions, knee blankets, paper flowers, storage bags to attach to walkers and small purses. These were most gratefully received when handed over to care staff in October to be shared amongst the residents.

September 2025: in celebration of Autumn we decorated wire wreaths with autumn flowers and seeds.

July 2025: In preparation for our u3a Gosport 30th anniversary picnic to be held in August, we made paper flowers to decorate the tables.

June 2025: This month we challenged ourselves to use metallics threads to create embroidery on paper

April 2025: we tried our hand at Spirelli, the art of winding thread around a template to make intricate patterns - not dissimilar to our childhood spirograph patterns.

February 2025: We used quick drying paper clay to cut out shapes to make mobiles

January 2025: The group started its crafting year with a recycling project transforming discarded spectacles cases into sewing boxes firstly recovering them and then customising with mini pin cushions, needle holders and space to add sewing notions. We are very pleased with our makes!

Group Project 2024: Members made individual pennants based on the theme of nature to create bunting to be used at u3a events

Previous craft meetings have included Stamp Collages and Woven Boxes - all made from recycled materials. We endeavour to use what we have rather than buy new.
