Membership Fees and Gift Aid

The fees are £30 for the 2026/2027 year, ie. 1 April 2026 to 31 March 2027. If you are a paid-up member of another u3a, the fees are at the lower rate of £25 for the full year, The rates are reduced to £18/£15 respectively if you join after 1 October 2026.

You can also Gift Aid your membership if you are eligible.

Renew your membership

Membership details are held on Beacon, a secure database designed for use by u3a. Group Co-ordinators are able to access contact details for their group members.

Terms and Conditions of membership

All members must:

  • Abide by the Principles of the u3a movement.
  • Always act in the best interests of u3a Gosport.
  • Abide by the terms and conditions of the constitution.
  • Treat fellow members with respect and courtesy at all times.
  • Comply with and support the decisions of the elected committee.
  • Advise the committee of any change in your personal details.

Volunteers

u3a Gosport (as with all u3a groups) relies on its members to volunteer to keep it strong and fun for all.

Committee

The committee will welcome any member who would like to see what is involved by attending a committee meeting and/or shadowing a role. Speak to a member of the Committee for further information. A Committee Nomination Form is available.

u3a Gosport is also a member of the South Central Network, which enables us to discuss and benefit from other local u3a experiences.

Groups

All members in our u3a can join any group – subject only to venue capacity. Members can also set up their own group – 2 people can make a group! (Although perhaps a few more for a paid venue). Go to the Group page to find a full range of current interest groups. Click on a selected group for further information and to contact the Group co-ordinator.
Contact the Groups co-ordinator if you have an idea for a new group.

u3a Gosport News Update

A News Update is published each month and is emailed to members. These will keep you informed of current news and updates, including notices about group changes and important information arising from Committee activities.

Events

Check the Events page for details of forthcoming general meetings, local and social events.

General Meetings

General meetings are held monthly at which all members are invited to hear a speaker on a variety of topics and any u3a Gosport notices, prior them being published in the News Update.

There is a £1 charge per meeting towards the cost of the visiting Speakers and hire of the hall. The meetings are usually held on the first Wednesday of the month at Thorngate Halls.

Annual General Meeting

An annual general meeting is held in April of each year.
